Selects vs. Thunder
Tuesday, June 21, 2016
The Selects rode strong pitching and two big innings to get back into the win column with a 12-0 romp over the Thunder on Tuesday night.
As it turned out, the Selects scored the eventual game-winner in the top of the first, when Tyler Sager ripped a leadoff single and, two outs later, scampered home on a passed ball. The score remained 1-0 until the top of the third when Brett Pfeifer and Andrew Mathies hit back-to-back jacks to lead off a five-run inning. The boys in green tacked on six more in the fifth for the 12-0 final.
Scott Clark picked up his fifth win of the season, allowing four hits over four scoreless frames, while striking out a pair. Pfeifer finished it off with a scoreless fifth that included three strikeouts. Offensively, the Selects were led by Mike Brown (3-3, 2 RBIs, run), Sager (3-4, 2 runs), and Pfeifer (2-4, HR, 2B, RBI, 2 runs).
